In court every morning, the judge calls the “docket” or the calendar for that day. Here on the blog, “The Docket” is my weekly post that gives you a little peek into the life of the Attorney in an Apron, and what kinds of fun things are happening in my life this week!
This week flew by just as the last few weeks have flown by. The wedding is now less than 2 weeks away, and while I’m definitely ready for it to be here, there is of course that little anxiety of knowing that most likely something will go wrong and just hoping that it’s something small.
So the week went by with work being a bit more stressful than normal, due to impending court deadlines and knowing that I would be out of the office for two days at the end of the week. I had planned to take those two days off for months and since I work remotely anyway, it usually isn’t a huge deal to be someplace else, but this week just had some added stress because I had several meetings and several wedding-related tasks to finish up.
I took Thursday and Friday “off” and went to Chicago for an incredible food blogger retreat. I say “off” because I was still technically “on” when it came to work, as I don’t want to ignore clients during the work week if they need my advice. But the retreat was truly incredible and I can’t wait to tell you about it, so let’s just dive right in shall we?
The whole shebang was thrown by Liz of The Lemon Bowl, Aimee of Shugary Sweets, and Phi of SweetPhi, who I know you already know by now since she’s my bestie and I talk about her like all the time. The retreat consisted of 2 full days of eating, learning and chatting. We learned and shared about things like finding your niche, working with brands and Lightroom.
When we weren’t busy learning and sharing our input, we were eating, imbibing, and just enjoying ourselves in general. On the first night, we got a private tour of Eataly Chicago, and let me tell you, it was fabulous! We tasted meats, fruit, cheeses, pizza, bread, and fresh pasta. And this was all before we were heading to Quartino for a 5 course meal!

We finished everything up with a trip to Vanille for macarons and I was in heaven.I was sad to have to go, since the trip was so fabulously wonderful, but at least I got to see my fiancé who I hadn’t seen in over a week. I’m so thankful I was able to attend this retreat (especially so close to the wedding) and it was great to see Chicago again (it’s been over 5 years since my last trip!) So that about wraps it up! Now I guess it’s time for wedding countdown to commence…eek!! Wish me luck!
