Wedding DIY: Unique Table Numbers

It’s our wedding month!  Or rather, anniversary month!  We got married in March 2015 and I can’t believe our anniversary is rapidly approaching!  I’ve been meaning to share with you guys some of my favorite details from the wedding for some time now, and I figured now is as good a time as any, and this is a great place to start!  These easy DIY unique table numbers were the perfect extra touch to our wedding day!

I wanted our wedding to be personalized in as many ways as I could without it being a stressful DIY-mess.  One super-simple way that I was able to personalize our wedding was to use places we had been together as a couple (London, Sydney, Paris) instead of table numbers (1,2,3).

Here’s how they turned out:2015_Lynn_Matt_1501

It was SO simple you guys.  I used photos that I had taken in these places during our trips and made them black and white then used an app for the calligraphy!   I simply selected my favorite picture from the trip, used Afterlight App to do the black and white and then used A Beautiful Mess App to write the cities.  I then printed them as postcards on and then glued them together so that both sides were the same.  We received several compliments on these as a unique touch and they only cost about $20 total to make (because you have to order a certain number of postcards).

To tell people where to sit, we used escort cards, and I found the cutest little bow-tie ones on Etsy.  The inside said where they were sitting and the outside said their name and then dinner order on the back!  Calligraphy by the AMAZING Kristen Henderson.

The bow ties matched the tuxedos of the groomsmen, as well as the handmade pillow that I made for our ring bearer.  Isn’t he cute?  He came all the way from Belgium you guys… jet lagged and precious.

During cocktail hour we displayed this sign that I DIY’d with my bestie Arpita, that showed all of the places from the table numbers!  I LOVE how it turned out and I now have it hung in our home! 2015_Lynn_Matt_1151

Looks like we have some places to go!  Cough cough Africa/South America/Asia!  Notably not pictured is Australia where we met <3

I had received the cork map from my future-at-the-time-but-now-current-in-laws and knew I wanted to use it for our wedding!  So I spray painted it gold, then printed out mini-versions of the table numbers, mounted it all on some beautiful patterned paper from Paper Source and then used string and push pins to put it all together (plus mod podge).  Kristen did the calligraphy of course!  Kristen also did the calligraphy on this gorgeous globe!  I bought the globe for $15 at Target and had Kristen do the calligraphy and she used gold sharpie to make the most gorgeous globe that I now display in my office!2015_Lynn_Matt_0007
We also incorporated our love of travel and the sweet story behind our meet-cute (on the other side of the world) with our guest book!  We ordered a custom guest book from Etsy in the shape of Australia for our guests to thumbprint! (we had a traditional guestbook too!)  I would recommend ordering this very far in advance if you are doing custom!
We also framed this and put it in our home!  It’s a perfect piece of art to remember our special day!  OK one last picture just because I’m feeling romantic!
